Will the Universe remember us after we’re gone?

When galaxies unfurl their softened arms

releasing

what was once held close

Stars

blink,

bleary-eyed,

before winking out of existence

The cosmos stained in a chaotic dispersion of matter

(no matter:)

We were here

We’ll etch on the Space that remains

a pinprick of time in a fraying corner

of the cosmic blanket

where we rubbed our thumbs in comfort.
